There are many things that go into making a portrait a "Hill" portrait. Our first and foremost focus is on our subject. Our job as portrait artists is to enhance beauty, not hide it. You'll find that many photographers avoid simplicity, as there is nothing to hide behind if you go simple. They clutter a portrait up with props, etc. But we’ve learned that if we do our job right, simplicity is the cornerstone of a great portrait. It leaves the viewer with nothing but the subject to look at (after all, isn’t that what we are supposed to do?) An expression must also be timeless as it graces your walls for decades. A timeless expression never goes out of style.
Next, lighting. We don’t want to bore you with the details on this, but if the lighting isn’t done right, you would know it, and it would NEVER happen in a Hill portrait.
Finally,at Hill Fine Portraits, the finishing of an image is done with the same care and concern taken as in the creation of it. You can count on the things done behind the scenes being done as meticulously and with as much expertise as the things you do see so that you can display your artwork proudly on your wall for generations to come.
We know that every detail deserves our attention, that is why a portrait sitting at Hill Fine Portraits is an all-inclusive experience, similar to commissioned artwork. It is a four part process that allows us to design and create a truly remarkable portrait for you and your family.
